The First - My Custom Denim Rotations Part 3

The First Raw Denim Jeans

The last jean that I am featuring in this 3-part series is my first Journal Projects sample made close to 3 years ago. (If you have missed, check out part 1 and part 2) Less is more as this pair was custom-made with the simple intention of creating a well-made slim cut raw indigo selvedge jean that I could wear everyday. I chose a 12oz indigo selvedge denim with just a slight bit of stretch for comfort in this tropical weather.

The customizations are also basic. The jean is cut in the regular 5-pocket style and a slim straight fit in size 32. The hardware used are silver rivets and a black laurel button fly. Thread used is an all-over brown. Multiple repairs has been done to this pair including several crotch repairs and a sashiko repair where my phone ripped through the back pocket.

This pair of well-worn jeans highlights what I really love about denim, an investment over time and a documentation of your everyday journey.

The First Raw Denim Details

I still wear this pair of jeans out every now and then – nothing feels better than being in a pair of well-worn jeans, moulded and faded to your body. The denim has faded to an electric blue and the whiskering effect in the thighs and knees give a nice visual depth to the jeans.

12oz Indigo Stretch Selvedge is a good entry fabric into the world of raw denim for those who live in hotter climates, having the benefits of comfort while getting to enjoy the fading experience of raw denim. Customization is subject to availability in our shop.
